Reminder to Burlington County Voters: Bring Your Sample Ballot With You To The Polls
Burlington County election officials are reminding voters who plan to cast their ballots in-person during the upcoming early voting period or on Election Day, November 3, to bring their sample ballot with them to the polls to save time checking in.
“Sample ballots are important for several reasons. They help voters familiarize themselves with their ballot and the candidates they will choose between before they enter a voting booth,” said Burlington County Clerk Joanne Schwartz. “Sample ballots also have information about each voter’s individual polling place and voting district. It’s very important to check because several towns have made changes to voting districts and polling locations this year”
“Sample ballots are imprinted with unique barcodes with each individual voter’s information. Poll workers can scan the barcode to quickly verify the information to ensure the voter has the correct ballot. While it’s not a requirement, bringing your sample ballot to the polls is a simple and secure way for voters to easily check in,” Schwartz added.
If voters do not bring their sample ballot, poll workers will still be able to look up a voter’s name and address to confirm their registration and ensure they use the correct ballot.
More than 340,000 sample ballots were sent to Burlington County voters who did not request a vote-by-mail ballot or who had not returned one by late September. The sample ballot includes a voter’s polling location and an image of their ballot, showing the candidates for elected offices and any special questions on the ballot.
Sample ballots also list the 10 early voting locations in Burlington County. Voters from any of Burlington County’s 40 municipalities can vote at any of these locations during the early voting period from Saturday, October 24, through Sunday, November 1.
Voters who did not receive or lost their sample ballot should contact the Burlington County Clerk’s Office at 609-265-5122.
All voters are encouraged to check their place and voting district before going to the polls on Election Day, November 3. This is especially important for voters in Bordentown Township, Burlington Township, Eastampton, Evesham, Lumberton, Moorestown, North Hanover, Pemberton Township, Tabernacle, Westampton, Burlington City, and Willingboro due to changes made to the voting district boundaries or polling locations.
Copies of each municipality’s sample ballots are available online at https://www.burlingtoncountynj.gov/1172/Sample-Ballots .
The sample ballots also include a web address for an online How to Vote video that explains the process for voting with machines deployed at all polling locations during the early voting period and on Election Day. The video can also be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bvn4gF1msA4&t=5s .
