Burlington County Commissioners Applaud Evesham Mayor Jaclyn Veasy’s New Role As President of the NJ Conference of Mayors
She succeeded past president Mayor Jason Cilento of Dunellen, Middlesex County, after serving as his 1st Vice President for 2025-26.
“The New Jersey Conference of Mayors was created in 1963 to represent the common interests of mayors and towns from across New Jersey, and our board was thrilled to learn that Mayor Veasy would be leading it for the next year,” said Burlington County Commissioner Director Felicia Hopson. “Her record as mayor of Burlington County’s most populous town is outstanding and reflects her dedication and passion for public service. During her time in office, she has quickly become one of Burlington County’s most trusted and relied upon partners, and we are confident she will bring the same energy and devotion to her new statewide leadership role.”
“Mayors are important community voices in Burlington County and across New Jersey, and we’ve seen the success Mayor Veasy has had in Evesham,” said Commissioner Deputy Director Allison Eckel. “From increasing citizen involvement to preserving critical open space, improving public safety, and welcoming new businesses, Mayor Veasy has shown how effective leadership can inspire and mobilize others to help create strong, vibrant communities. We are excited to have her serving in this statewide leadership role where she can advocate for Burlington County and all New Jersey residents.”
“Leading the New Jersey Conference of Mayors is an incredible privilege, and having the unwavering support of our Burlington County Commissioners makes this journey even more meaningful,” said Mayor Veasy. “It is a great honor to represent my fellow Burlington County mayors, alongside leaders from every corner of our state in this new role. By uniting our voices and working hand-in-hand with County leaders, we can transform our local insights into real progress that will benefit all our communities and shape a brighter future for all of New Jersey.”
Mayor Veasy is a lifelong resident of Evesham Township now serving her 8th year as the town’s mayor. Her time in office has focused on community involvement, economic development, infrastructure improvements and open space preservation. She also serves as Vice Chair of the Burlington County Bridge Commission. During her free time, she volunteers with her church and other areas of the community.
State Assemblywoman Andrea Katz also participated in the recognition ceremony and presented Mayor Veasy with an Assembly resolution in honor of her new leadership position.
“Evesham is the largest town in the county, but every time I go there it feels like I’m walking into the kind of small town where I lived and grew up in,” said Assemblywoman Katz. “The sense of community and acceptance you’ve brought to Evesham is amazing, and now you’re bringing that leadership to the entire state. Thank you for your leadership and all you do, every day to set a great example.”
